What artists, curators, and colleagues said about Edition I

Edition I was experienced by artists, collectors, curators, and writers from across Germany and beyond. Below, those who engaged with the exhibition in depth share their perspective.

Michael Post
Michael Post
Visual Artist  ·  Concrete Art  ·  Germany
Born 1952 in Wiesbaden, Michael Post is one of Germany's foremost exponents of Concrete Art. He studied fine arts at the University of Applied Sciences Wiesbaden and art history at the Johannes Gutenberg University of Mainz, and served at Museum Wiesbaden (1981–1984) as technical director of the landmark Fluxus 62 exhibition. A 2001 residency scholar at Künstlerhaus Schloss Balmoral — an institution of the Cultural Foundation of Rhineland-Palatinate — and First Prize winner at the Sculpture Park of Mörfelden-Walldorf (2005), his practice spans painting, object art, and curatorial work, with international exhibitions across Germany, Switzerland, France, Austria, England, Hungary, and the United States. His work is documented on Wikipedia and at michael-post.de.

The duo Marlis Sauer as organizer and Crow as curator, both represented with their own works, present a mixture of graphics, drawings, objects, paintings, and words in this year's BASEART. Here, individual positions of contemporary parallel worlds of the most diverse origins and techniques become apparent.

Traditional and experimental visual realities confront each other and appear in the light of their simultaneous perception in space. Here begins the adventure of joyful consideration. The special atmosphere of the space inspires a kind of unrestrained meandering of the gaze, alternating with focused consideration of the works, which can be understood as an emotional gain.

Meandering eyes and thought activities inspire us in a playful way to adopt changes of perspective and location within the aesthetic space. The contrast of the juxtaposed works encourages communication. The accompanying events in the exhibition invite visitors to exchange thoughts from person to person and to actively participate in the events themselves.

Crow, curator and rock'n roller, equipped with his multimedia skills, combines visual events with musical events into a spectacular crossover of events.

More voices to follow.

Edition I continues to resonate.
